How Rhiannon Turned a Bread-Making Class Into a Warm Membership That Brings People Joy

From One-Off Online Classes to a Monthly Club for Home Bakers Around the World

Rhiannon Relfe runs The Epsom Bakehouse, where she teaches people how to bake proper bread at home, without machines, without shortcuts, and without stress.

Her live online bread-making classes had become a popular fixture. But once people learned to bake one loaf, they wanted more. That’s when she saw the opportunity for a membership: something that would keep her best students engaged, inspired, and learning together.

“The membership gives home bread bakers the chance to learn something new each month, and build a community around it.”

And so, The Bakehouse Club was born.

Now with 10 members and growing, Rhiannon’s bread club is quietly becoming a monthly ritual for hobby bakers who want more than just recipes, they want joy, creativity, and a little global culture with their sourdough.

What’s Inside The Bakehouse Club?

This is a light-touch membership designed to inspire, not overwhelm. Each month, members receive:

✔ A Live Online Baking Class – Teaching a new type of bread, from challah to ciabatta
✔ Access to a Members-Only Portal – With replays of all past classes and recipes
✔ Occasional Guest Expert Sessions – Bringing in cultural insights and new techniques

It’s simple, cosy, and structured around the rhythm of real life. Members can attend live, or catch up anytime, on their own schedule.

“Seeing members’ wins when they bake a new bread is really wonderful. It brings them joy, and it brings me joy.”

How She Launched It

Rhiannon introduced the membership after a successful run of individual classes. She launched it via:

📧 A short email campaign to her existing list
🍞 Mentioning it during her live classes
🎥 Hosting all her individual classes on the same portal as the membership, for easy upselling

“I started simply with a Facebook group and my email list. But I could definitely have promoted it more.”

She continues to market it through regular email updates and by showcasing what’s being baked each month, helping new potential members picture themselves in the club.

Keeping It Fresh

The biggest challenge?

“Keeping content fresh and engaging does take focus.”

To solve this, Rhiannon:
✔ Brings in guest tutors for new techniques (like Japanese milk bread)
✔ Follows seasonal themes like festive bakes or sourdough specials
✔ Asks members what they want to learn, and builds around that

It keeps things relevant, personal, and always rising (pun very much intended).

Her Proudest Moment

“That I’ve built something from scratch that brings people joy, and gives them the chance to take time out doing something they love.”

She’s also loved the journey of learning with her members, trying new recipes and teaching different techniques every month.

What’s Next?

“To continue building the club as a trusted place for home bread bakers to grow their skills and passion. I want to guide them through everything that’s already in the library, and eventually offer exclusive discounts on ingredients and equipment too.”

With a strong foundation and happy members, that vision is already in motion.

Final Thoughts

The Bakehouse Club is a perfect example of a light-touch, high-enjoyment membership. It doesn’t require a ton of tech or time, but it brings consistent value, connection, and creativity to people’s lives.

Rhiannon has turned a single class into a whole movement, one loaf at a time.
