People hear "membership" and picture thousands of subscribers and a content treadmill. Forget that. Here's the number I want in your head.
Forty members. Twenty-five quid a month. A thousand pounds of recurring income, every single month, before you've sold a single other thing. Not forty thousand. Forty. That's a Facebook group's worth of people who already like you. I give you the full maths on Day 1, and you work out your own number live in the room.
Sell something once and it's gone the moment the money's in. Next month you're back on the start line. A membership works the other way about: the forty who join this month are still here next month, so you're not starting again, you're building on top. Add a handful more as you go and your income climbs instead of resetting to zero.
Illustrative, not a promise. Each block is ten members at £25 a month. Bring in around ten a month and keep them, and by month four you've forty members and £1,000 coming in, before you've sold anything else. Every month after stacks on top, because last month's members are still here.
You're not afraid of work. The hardest part is the 1st of every month, when the till resets to zero and you start the whole thing again from a standing start. Sell, deliver, sell, deliver. You're only ever as secure as your next launch, your next client, your next good week.
And if you've been at this a while, you'll know that cold lurch of a slow month. I do too.
A membership fixes that. Not "one day when you're bigger." Now. Because a membership is the one model where the people who joined last month are still paying you this month. You stake your claim once, then you build it as you go.

A membership is the best business model I know, but it isn't a magic one.
That name still makes me laugh, but I've earned it the hard way. In 2010 my marketing agency fell apart and left me staring down a tax bill I couldn't pay, with a small daughter and no idea what came next. That's the month I learned what it does to you when your income starts at zero every single time. I never wanted to feel it again.
So I built memberships instead. I've been doing it since 2013, I've brought in over two million pounds of recurring income, and I've taught thousands of women to do the same with my Light-Touch™ Method. Not by working harder. By building something that keeps paying.
These days I run all of it, fuelled by tea, from our old Mill on a few acres in rural North Yorkshire, with a flock of rescue hens who are quite sure they own the place.
